The journey begins, well it will be as of the end of January when I collect my kit.

It's been a long time coming, about 30 years, so at the ripe old age of 56 I've decided to bite the bullet and tick something else off my bucket list.

Over the last few months I've been busy building a workshop to accommodate my new arrival which will also be home to all my various tools located through out the house, wherever there be a cupboard, draw or loft space, there will be tools !!

Unfortunately, the best of planning didn't happen i.e. ...

Build Garage , oops, Workshop ?

Buy donor

Strip Donor and refurbish parts.

Collect Chassis

Start Build.

Now due to shift work, Christmas, Birthdays, money and oh yes, SLEEP, the way things have turned out is :

98 % Workshop built.

No Donor

Kit collection end of Jan.

I'm hoping that there is going to be enough space to temporarily have a nice piece of expensive wall art, until I find a suitable donor.

I've ordered the Mazda starter kit with the following additions:

GT Chassis.

Cobra hoops.

Lowered floor.

The all important chassis mod (US Spec) to accommodate the 1.8 plenum on standard engine.

Sports front arches.
Escort mk 2 2.9 steering rack.
Mazda Steering Kit.
Rivnuts / Rivets / Glue.

I will also be buying Brake and Fuel Lines.

I'm thinking this will be enough for me to be getting on with the build without spending money on items that will just be sitting around the workshop for an indefinite time. Also I'm hoping purchasing things this way will help in controlling my budget without holding up the build.
With the use of the internet / Google, any trader wishing to make money is there and will deliver in a short period of time, this also enables me to find the best price for the item required ( I've already cut my budget by £300 just by doing that ) :).

Ok, so I'm new to blogging, although I've read many, so apologies now to all typo's, misleading information or anything else that may incriminate me !

I hope that any new builder (as I am) will find something useful here, but if not my experience so far of fellow GBS builders on the forum has been great.

Anyone reading this considering the build of a GBS Zero I would say go for it.
To date, I've had no issues with GBS and any emails sent have been replied to within 24 hrs ( if not less ).

Do your research, know what the purpose of your finished kit will be used for and budget realistically. Don't get sucked into buying loads of bits to bolt on, but think it through first
1. Is that what you really want ?
2. Do you really need it ?
3. Is there an alternative ?
You may end up on step 1, but at least you've thought it through and your pocket will be happier for it. :)

I will do my best to keep the blog flowing and up to date, so let see how that goes.
